Winners will get a free T-shirt bearing their design and featured on the P.S. 85 Parent Association Website.
T-Shirts will be light blue. (and eligible as school uniform attire)
The contest theme is “Celebrate School Spirit”. The entry must depict “P.S. 85Q The Judge Charles J. Vallone School” and the theme of school spirit.
Theme details must be legible and spelled correctly on the design. Artists are allowed to use only four colors in their drawings or one-color. Computer drawings are allowed. Drawings must be on 8.5 x 11″ paper.
Only one entry per student. Entrants must be students at P.S. 85Q.
Students MUST put the following on the back of their drawing to be eligible to win. Digital entries can be emailed to execs@ps85parents.org:
First and Last name, Age, 
Telephone Number, 
Parent’s Email Address, 
Class and Grade, Teacher’s Name
The deadline has been extended a week. Submissions must be turned in to classroom teachers (to the PA mailbox) no later than May 7th. Contest entries will be judged by school personnel along with Ms. Chang and Ms. Samolis. The final T-Shirt will be available for purchase at the Spring Carnival (on June 2nd). Proceeds benefit P.S. 85Q Parent Association.

Please submit your recipes for the P.S. 85Q International Cookbook!

·      Do you have a favorite recipe or delicious dish that you’d like to share?

·      Is there a particular specialty or treat that represents your culture?

·      Would you like to be a part of a unique recipe book that captures the culinary diversity and beauty of PS 85 Q?

Then please submit a recipe for our PS 85 Q International Cookbook!

The cookbook will be published later this spring and will be available for sale to raise money for the school.  Help us create a fabulous cookbook.

Here are the guidelines:

·      You can submit a recipe for an appetizer, main dish, side dish, dessert, etc.  Anything goes.

·      Please give exact measurements whenever possible for your recipe.  For example, write “1 cup of flour” instead of “a handful” of flour.

·      If you have a picture of yourself and/or your child making the dish, please send in.  Any good photos of the dish can be submitted.  We are uncertain as to how many photos we can include, however, but will do our best.  Photos will not be returned.

·      Download and complete the recipe submission form.  Please either send recipes via e-mail to Michal Melamed (michalmelamed@yahoo.com) or Evie Hantzopoulos (evie@globalkids.org) or anyone on the PA exec board at execs@ps85parents.org.  Or you can fill it out and return to school via backpack or on Parent/ Teacher conference day.
Deadline is March 16, 2012 to be available for International Night – May 24th.

The students of PS 85Q have been in school for 100 days as of February 14, 2012!

Any class who has 100% attendance for ONE DAY in the week before Feb 14th (Feb 6-10, 2012) will get a class party on the 100th day of School (Feb 14, 2012)!

Parents:  PLEASE do not send your kids to school if they have a fever (or another excused absence).  The contest will continue for the entire week so that excused absences can still occur.

Learn fun and imaginative activities that you can use at home to support your
child in gaining more language, reading and writing skills. Parents will
experience hands on games to create characters, sequences and write group poems
inspired by ordinary objects. No arts experience required!

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Light breakfast will be served.

SPACE IS LIMITED TO 35 PARTICIPANTS AND REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
